03 — A FEW THINGS TO KNOW

Before you
head out.

Do I need to be good at photography?

No. Frame is for anyone who wants to make photographs with more intention. Start with a simple assignment and explore at your own pace, whether you’re learning the basics or finding a fresh perspective.

Can I use a camera, or just my iPhone?

Either. Take a photograph with the camera you enjoy using, then choose it from your iPhone’s photo library. Frame focuses on your decisions about composition, light, color, and story.

What are the device requirements?

Frame requires iOS 26 or later. Feedback on your own photographs requires iOS 27, a compatible Apple Intelligence device, Apple Intelligence enabled, and its model downloaded and ready. Feedback is currently in English. You can still explore challenges and save photographs without analysis when feedback is unavailable.

How does the feedback work?

On supported devices, Apple Intelligence reviews your photograph on-device and suggests two strengths, one improvement, and a follow-up exercise. It’s a starting point for reflection, and AI feedback can make mistakes. The app’s included sample uses clearly labeled example feedback.

What happens to my photographs?

You choose which photographs to import using Apple’s photo picker. Your journal and feedback are stored locally, and Frame does not upload photographs for analysis. Export an entry with the iOS share sheet, or delete its journal copy without changing the original in Photos.

When can I download Frame?

Frame is coming soon to iPhone. It isn’t available on the App Store yet, and a release date hasn’t been announced. This page will link to the app when it’s available.
